Mario Balottelli demanding high wage and Cesc Fabrégas returns
Mario Balotelli will not be moving to Manchester City from Inter Milan.
Balotelli is demanding £180,000 a week, and now Manchester City will switch their attentions to Atlético Madrid striker Diego Forlán, according to Spanish reports.
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has revealed Christian Poulsen will make the move to Anfield this summer, replacing the departing Javier Mascherano.
Hodgson worked with Poulsen during his time at FC Copenhagen, where they won the Danish national league, and Hodgson said: “I have known him for a long time and he is a fantastic player. I was responsible in some way for launching his career and I have followed it ever since.”
Meanwhile, former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini of AC Milan could also be a potential replacement for Mascherano.
Arsenal manager Arséne Wenger will go for Everton’s Mikel Arteta if Cesc Fabrégas departs to Barcelona. Fabrégas returns to Arsenal today after an extended break after World Cup duty. Also, Wenger will make a strong offer to bring goalkeeper Joe Hart of Man City to Arsenal, and also Cagliari keeper Federico Marchetti, as he searches for a new No.1.
Defender Emir Spahić has also been linked with Arsenal, but his club Montpellier have put a £23million price tag on the Bosnian. Meanwhile, Stoke City will hold talks with Nice striker Loïc Rémy with a view to signing him for £10million. Stoke will also go for Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng.
West Ham manager Avram Grant is considering making a move for Gil Vermuth of Hapoel Tel Aviv, while West Ham want to complete a loan move for Ajax player Miralem Sulejmani this week. Grant will also complete the signing of Winston Reid for £5million.
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has said Ashley Cole will not be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, but Real Madrid will bid for the left-back. Meanwhile, Yuri Zhirkov of Chelsea could head back to Russia, with Zenit St Petersburg eyeing up a £21million bid. Also, Ancelotti wants to sign Dario Srna of Shaktar Donetsk.
Manchester United could make a move for Hamburg’s Piotr Trochowski if they cannot sign Mesut Özil of Werder Bremen. Özil has been linked with both Man United and Arsenal, and was made available this week by Bremen after they lowered his asking price.
Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish wants to sign Mauro Camoranesi of Juventus in a surprising move, while AZ Alkmaar striker Moussa Dembele has revealed Birmingham want to bring him to St Andrews, and Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is set to swoop for Stoke forward James Beattie.
Craig Bellamy is now wanted by Celtic boss Neil Lennon, and wants to bring the Welshman on loan. Bellamy is also wanted by Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, who has reportedly made an £8million bid. Meanwhile, Tottenham will let John Bostock go on loan to Hull City for a season.
New Fulham manager Mark Hughes could bring Luke Young to Craven Cottage from Aston Villa after his move to Liverpool fell through. Hughes has also turned down the chance of signing Steve Sidwell, while Bristol City have been told by Man United they can have Michael Owen on loan rather than Danny Welbeck. Also, Tom Cleverley will go to Sunderland on loan rather than Bolton.
