Mario Basler: Lukas Podolski did not deserve to be at Bayern Munich
Former Bayern Munich winger Mario Basler has insisted that Lukas Podolski did not deserve to be at Bayern Munich as he was too weak as compared to the stature of the club, which is why he returned to Koln. He criticized the German
international of being upset after losing the armband and insisted that he should move on as a player.
Earlier this week, Koln manager Stale Solbakken had awarded the club captaincy to defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pedro-Geromel-c29605 which had disappointed Podolski. The manager claimed that his decision was for sporting reasons and to take the club forward.
Basler stated that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 did not deserve a move to Bayern Munich as he does not have the calibre to play for a big club which is why he was unsuccessful. The German international had a torrid three years at Allianz Arena
and scored only 26 times in his 106 appearances for the Bavarian outfit.
The former Werder Bremen player insisted that Podolski should now move on after the captaincy incident and there is no point in arguing about it.
“For Bayern, Podolski was far too weak. He took the easy option: back to Cologne. He gets upset if they take the captaincy. He must also move on,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Lukas Podolski in-return criticized the 42-year old for his poor coaching ability and added that he should mind his own business. However, the German international wished Basler the best for the future.
“Mario Basler is one who, with his expertise and time as a coach in the third and fourth leagues, was fired. But I wish him continued success as a player in the regional classes and I wish him that because he is captain,” the winger
added.
