The Bayern Munich striker has admitted that his side has had a torrid time recently and feels that a win this weekend could well turn things around.
The Bavarian giants have been in relentless form since the start of the second-half of the season and are now seven points adrift of leaders, Borussia Dortmund. Jupp Heynckes’ side lost their recent fixture to Bayer Leverkusen
with a 2-0 margin and suffered their sixth defeat of the ongoing campaign.
Gomez feels that his side needs some luck to turn things around. He admitted that the team’s form has dipped drastically in the last two months but is still confident that a win will bring the confidence back into the side. He
is still optimistic regarding Bayern’s title chances this season and insists that there are still 10 games to play for.
“We are missing luck and determination in front of the goal. At the back, there is impatience.  We absolutely want to win and we know we need to win. But then we open up and run into problems,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The German international stated that there has been immense pressure on the players to perform in recent weeks and admitted that there has been nervousness in the squad. The player added that Bayern have not played the best football
in the last two months but is confident that the former German champions will return to their best soon.
Gomez insisted that the Bavarians cannot afford a foot wrong at this stage of the season and wants to win all the remaining 10 games in the Bundesliga.
“Due to the pressure of having to win, we get nervous and insecure. This should not happen to us. But when it does, we no longer play with the necessary discipline, we are no longer compact and we do not wait for the opponents
to make a mistake anymore,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich will next take on Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, March 10, in a bid to bring their season back on track. Rivals Borussia Dortmund have a relatively easier test at FC Augsburg on the same day.
