Gomez was talking ahead of his country’s much-awaited friendly against the local rivals, Netherlands. Both teams are set to meet on Tuesday, November 15, at Imtech Arena in Hamburg.

Mario, who captained his country on Friday in the absence of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philipp-Lahm-c29929, has raised doubts over his place for Tuesday’s game with the possible inclusion of Klose.
He is of the opinion that the veteran striker still has legs to trouble any opponents, and could replace him as the lone striker against the Dutch.
The player was also the second choice striker under Joachim Low during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and was dropped from the Euro 2008 side after first round games due to his poor form.
Since then, Gomez has witnessed an incredible turnaround in his fortunes and currently is the top goal scorer for the Bavarians this season, with 20 goals from 18 games in all competitions.
While talking to reporters ahead of tonight’s game, the 26-year-old further enthused:
"A few years ago, I am sure no one would have thought that I would lead the team out on the pitch. The date of 11/11/2011 will always have good memories for me."
He also stated, "It is still a fight between Miroslav and me, we both want the same place. My task is to stay fit, keep my form and keep scoring goals. Then the national coach has to decide who is the best for the team."
Gomez has so far scored seven goals this year for Germany from nine international appearances, taking his tally to 21 from a total of 50 caps until now.
The player is highly likely to earn a start ahead of Klose on Tuesday and will probably retain his captain’s armband against Bert van Marwijk’s men.
