Mario Gomez has expressed his desire to progress as far as possible in the upcoming European Championships to be held in Poland and Ukraine this year. He reckons that Germany will have their work cut out which might go to their
advantage once the tournament starts in June.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 in their opening game of the competition on June 9,
at the Arena Lviv in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032.
Gomez believes that it is an advantage to be in the toughest group as it will keep the players determined and on their toes. He added that each team in the group has equal chances of progressing further while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 will be the
team to watch from as they have nothing to lose, and could be the surprise package in the group.
While talking to Ten Action, the former Stuttgart star further mentioned:
“It is definitely the strongest group at the Euros with a great deal of quality. Three teams are very strong and then Denmark have absolutely nothing to lose and are therefore totally unpredictable. That is why it is a very difficult
group.”
The striker stated that it is hard to cope with the expectations when everyone is focusing on you, and considers you the best team in the group. He opined that Die Mannschaft are lucky to be placed in the ‘Group of death’ as they
could concentrate better which is beneficial to both the players and the team.
“But I find that far more interesting than playing in a group with loads of underdogs where the fans are only discussing us how high your team will win. We all know we have to show 100 per cent. You cannot take it slow against
any of these opponents. But you have to go full speed ahead from the start of the tournament.” Gomez concluded.
Mario Gomez has 50 international caps to his name for Germany and has scored 21 times. He could face tough competition from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miroslav-Klose-c26049 for a starting place in Joachim Low’s side.
