The Bayern Munich striker has hailed his side after a sensational first-half of the season and credits teamwork for his goals in the current campaign.
Mario Gomez reckons that his recent goalscoring form is a result of team work and acknowledged his teammates for a successful season thus far. He feels that if a team is not performing well, a player loses confidence and the performance
is affected.
The striker believes that if an individual is playing for a top club like Bayern, he can only retain his place by scoring as many goals as possible. He added that it is his responsibility to score as many goals and play some part
in the success of the team.
Gomez mentioned that a club’s success depends on the whole team and not a single individual. The attacker admitted that he is fortunate to be a part of a club of the stature of Bayern and claimed that there are much more opportunities
to score if your team has world-class players.
While talking to reporters during a training camp in Doha, the 26-year-old further stated:
“It’s true that strikers are measured by the amount of goals they score and the only way to defend your spot in a top team is to play well and score goals. Nonetheless the team’s success is always the most important thing.”

“If you play in a team which has harmony and which functions well as a team and play successfully, the striker will receive far more opportunities to score and that’s when scoring comes automatically,” he further added.
The striker is currently the leading goalscorer in the Bundesliga with 16 goals from as many appearances and has found the net on seven occasions in the UEFA Champions League also.
The Bavarians will take on Borussia Monchengladbach once the winter break ends on Friday, January 20, at the Borussia Park to avenge the defeat they suffered on the opening day of the season.
