The Bayern Munich striker has expressed his pleasure on scoring the winner against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
Jupp Heynckes’ side won the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid to gain the advantage before the return leg.
The hosts went into the lead through Franck Ribery in the first-half which was cancelled out by Mesut Ozil after the interval. Gomez found the winner in the dying moments of the game as Madrid suffered their first loss of the campaign.
Gomez claimed that it is a great result for his side as Bayern will go into the second-leg high on confidence. The striker admitted that it is very important to start with a win and is confident of his team’s chances in the return
leg.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 player admitted that Bayern conceded a poor goal which could have certainly been avoided. He stated that Madrid started the game well but it was all Bayern after that throughout the course of the game.
“It's always positive when you win in the last minute. You don’t play down having Real as the opposition. Apart from the early minutes of the first and second half, we’ve done very well. We’re angry about conceding a goal,” he
was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philipp-Lahm-c29929 stressed that the winner was vital as the team will go with an advantage into the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu next week. He stated that Madrid will be under huge pressure when they play at
home next week and admitted that his team cannot afford any slipups.
“The second goal was vital. I finally found Mario [with a cross] again at last, for the first time in a long time. Madrid will have to come at us now, and that obviously plays to our strengths. We can afford to sit back a little,”
he concluded.
Bayern and Real Madrid will lock horns for the second-leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final on Wednesday, April 25. The team will book their place in the final if they get the better of Los Blancos next week.
