Mario Gomez hails Joachim Low for entrusting him with striking duties - International News
Bayern Munich ace striker, Mario Gomez, has revealed his liking for German national team manager, Joachim Low. He credited the tactician for his transformation into the first choice striker and vowed to justify his selection by performing consistently for
the DFB-Eleven.
Gomez was talking ahead of Germany’s highly anticipated tie against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 15, at Imtech Arena.
The player was confident of retaining his place in Joachim Low’s starting XI despite speculations of him being rested for at least the first half.
Miroslav Klose’s inclusion in the squad has also raised questions over Gomez’s participation in the game, but the striker currently is aiming to post a win over the Clockwork Orange.
Mario opined that his manager won’t leave him out of the starting XI for this crunch game especially after some of his recent performances. He, though, admitted of increased pressure with the inclusion of Klose, but was confident of retaining his berth.
The striker reserved gratitude for Joachim Low on showing continuous confidence in his abilities despite dropping him from the Euro 2008 side due to poor run of form.
Gomez was also not a preferred striker during the 2010 FIFA World Cup as veteran http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miroslav-Klose-c26049 played upfront.
Further commenting on his amazing transformation, the 26-year-old enthused:
"For a long time, I didn't show what I could do in the international games and for a footballer, that is the worst. When you aren't free mentally, it's virtually impossible to score. I am pleased that I am now an alternative to Miroslav."
He also stated, "I know the coach is assured of my qualities and he was on my side, especially in the time after Euro 2008 when there was a lot of pressure on me. I have always felt he was behind me over the years.”
The attacker has so far shown prolific form for both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 and Bayern Munich and has 20 goals from 18 games in all competitions until now.
From nine international games for Germany this year, Gomez has scored seven goals, and could well play a telling role agaisnt Holland.
