Mario Gomez looking to break jinx in the game against Hamburger SV on Saturday – Bundesliga news
Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez has expressed desire to score his first goal of this year’s campaign against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 on Saturday. The two rivals are due to meet each other at Allianz Arena on August 20.
Despite being the league’s top scorer for last season, Gomez hasn’t been able to score in this year’s campaign so far. The striker also failed to score in his side’s 2-0 UEFA Champions League qualifier win over FC Zurich on Wednesday, August 17.
Gomez was talking ahead of his team’s next league game against Hamburg. The German international hoped to break his jinx on Saturday. He mentioned that Bayern are clear favourites going into the next game and urged his teammates to push hard and score more
goals.
At the same time, Gomez hoped to rediscover his old form sooner than later. The 26-year-old was the highest goalscorer during the 2010/11 campaign having netted 28 goals from 32 league appearances.
While talking to a local newspaper, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 player added, "I know that the goals need to come in the league and they will. I'm not driving myself crazy about it. It might take me three or four games to score. When I score for the first time
is not a problem for me.”
Bayern Munich goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 was also confident about his team’s success against Hamburg. The stopper reckoned that his side are far superior to Hamburg’s weak looking squad. The former Schalke player also expressed pleasure at clearing the first
leg against Zurich successfully.
The German international concluded by saying, "We know that we have to improve and convert more of our chances. We can't afford to relax or we will be punished against better teams."
Bayern are currently sitting 11th in the league table after two games. A win over the Red Shorts on the weekend could inspire them into the top four.
