The Bayern Munich striker has set his sights on the upcoming Euro 2012 and wants to carry forward his club form at the international level for Germany.
With the German team preparing for the upcoming Euro 2012, Mario Gomez has expressed his desire of scoring more goals for his country.
Gomez has been in prolific goal-scoring form for Bayern Munich this season, and is already leading the charts with 16 goals from as many league games until now. The player was also the top goal-scorer during the 2010/11 Bundesliga campaign, hence receiving a Golden Boot in return.
The striker believes that he can replicate his league performances at the international level too, and is hopeful of earning a place in the German starting line-up. However, the German national team manager, Joachim Low, has preferred http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miroslav-Klose-c26049 over the former Stuttgart star in the past.
While talking to Kicker, the 26-year-old further added:
"I'll do anything to get a place in the national team. If I maintain my performance level up until the Euro and the coach decides against me, then it wasn't meant to be."
When asked about his current form at Bayern, Gomez insisted that he has grown more mature and reads the game better than he used to do a couple of years back.
"I am now at an age when the best years of my career begin - or have already begun. At 26, you're in your prime as a striker. And in the mid-20s you're more mature, you have experience in game-deciding situations, you stay relaxed. [I am] proud that I have been able to convince the man from whom I have had the greatest resistance in my career."
Gomez made his international debut in 2007, and so far, he has bagged 21 goals in 50 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 star is in superb goal-scoring form of late; however, it remains to be seen whether the striker partners Klose during the Euro 2012 campaign, or witnesses the action from the bench.
