The Borussia Dortmund duo has confirmed their stay at Signal Iduna Park until 2014 after the recent wave of rumours linking them with a summer move to Manchester United.
Die Borussen CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has turned down the rumours linking two of the club’s best players with a summer move to Manchester United.
It was recently reported that the English Champions are considering a bid for the duo and they might tie knots with both Gotze and Hummels by the end of the 2011/12 season.
However, Watzke has brushed aside the rumours and has clearly stated his desire of not letting any of his player’s leave during the summers. The CEO believes that the youngsters are perfectly suited to German conditions and should
spend more time at Signal Iduna Park in order to gain experience before moving to another big name club.
Watzke mentioned that the players will not be sold at any price during the summers, despite the Red Devils hinting
at a hefty amount for their signatures.
While talking to Liga Total, the CEO further mentioned:
"There is no offer. And even if they bid €120 million, [Gotze and Hummels] would stay with us, because we don't want to sell! We want to play football, not to open as a bank. We want to make our five million fans happy, we can't
do that by selling players."
Both Gotze and Hummels are tied with the Black Yellows until 2014 and the duo has already expressed their desire of staying with the German champions until their deals expire.
Gotze’s agent has also dismissed reports of his client being linked with a move to Manchester United. He told that the midfielder has no intentions of parting ways with the German club and is enjoying his time at the Signal Iduna
Park.
"We will have no talks [with other clubs]. Mario has a contract until 2014 and wants to honour it. There are no discussions with other clubs, not even with Bayern Munich." The agent concluded.
Gotze is currently nursing a hamstring problem and will return to action in January.
