The German international is impressed with the club’s plan for the future and admits that he could be playing for the club for many more years.
Mario Gotze’s future has been under widespread speculation for the past one year with the likes of Manchester United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 showing interest in signing the teenage sensation. But the midfielder has committed his future to the club recently and has vowed to stay beyond the summer.
Gotze claimed that it is great that Borussia Dortmund are taking part in the UEFA Champions League regularly but the performances have to get better. He insisted that his future at the club does not depend on whether the club is in the competition or not as he loves the team and the fans.
The German international is sure of extending his stay at Dortmund but has refused to make any promises for the future as the situation can change. He admitted that the acquisition of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 from Borussia Monchengladbach is a step in the right direction for the club and admitted that the club has shown the intention to challenge teams such as Bayern Munich and Schalke in the transfer market.
“The Champions League is a great competition. We will hopefully play a better role in it next season. But my further cooperation with BVB doesn't depend on it. Anyone who plays for a club like Dortmund can only imagine extending their stay there. But this isn't a current issue. I wouldn't rule it out, but I won't guarantee it,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The player also talked about his prospects for the European Championships this year and is determined to fight for a starting place in the team. He admitted that having so many good players in the squad is a great sign for the team and the more competition for places is better for the players.
“A footballer wants to play. And in such a great tournament, everyone is up for it, Why not? Barcelona have a few creative players and they go from success to success,” he concluded.
Mario Gotze’s current contract with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire at the end of next season and the club will be looking to cash-in on the player in this summer transfer window.
