The inspirational German teenager is certain to stay at the Signal Iduna Park beyond this season after agreeing terms with the club officials.
Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Zorc, has confirmed that Mario Gotze will stay at the club until the end of the ongoing season.
Gotze’s current deal is due to expire in 2014, and he has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 have all shown notable interest in acquiring his services.
The attacker was tipped to leave Dortmund during the ongoing winter transfer window, but the club bosses have convinced him to stay until the end of the 2011/12 season.
Zorc expressed his delight after having successful negotiations with the player, and reckons that a star like Gotze is extremely important to the club's future plans. However, despite convincing him to stay, the chief admitted
that they might be forced to sell him should an attractive offer come their way.
While talking to Bild, the Sporting Director further added:
"We have reached an agreement with Mario and he will still play at Borussia Dortmund next season. He has a contract until June 2014, and we have no reason to sell him. I'm no prophet, though. We would have to think about it if
a team makes a €1 milliard offer for him tomorrow."
Gotze was an influential figure in his team’s Bundesliga triumph last season. The youngster scored 8 goals and also amassed 12 assist throughout the 2010/11 season. The player also had a superb 2011 with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, as he scored his
first international goal in a friendly game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858.
Gotze has scored five league goals from 14 appearances so far this season. The 19-year-old is currently nursing a hamstring injury, and is expected to return to action in a couple of weeks.
The German international will definitely hold the key to the defence of Dortmund’s Bundesliga crown.
