Mario Haggan wants to take St. Louis Rams to ‘another level’ – NFL News
St. Louis Rams’ linebacker, Mario Haggan, who has recently joined the team, has said that he wants to take his new team to ‘another level’ and is ready to do whatever it takes to achieve this goal.
Haggan, 32, has plenty of experience under his belt. Since starting his professional National Football League (NFL) career in 2003, Haggan played five seasons for the Buffalo Bills and later joined the Denver Broncos with whom he played four seasons.
Rams are coming into the next season after a disappointed 2011 season in which the team was badly humiliated after losing 14 games. The Rams only won two games in the season.
At present, Rams are in a rebuilding phase which has seen the ownership bringing new general manager and head coach.
Rams have also added some more faces to their coaching squad besides acquiring players during the 2012 draft and free agency.
They have added players on offence as well as defence, but Haggan’s addition is more valuable as he brings a lot of experience to the unit.
Haggan has joined the Rams on a one-year deal and is expected to compete for the starting role for the next season.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Haggan is excited for the fresh start with the Rams and wants to play a vital role in the team’s victories in the upcoming season.
He wanted to join the team that would be a perfect fit for him and said of joining the Rams:
“It’s a fresh start and an opportunity to earn some playing time. That’s my goal to be on the field opening day and try to take this team to another level.”
He added:
"This is a place where I fit in. My role has been a leader in all the places I have been and it’s an honour to come in and be with a team that is going places.”
Haggan has played as inside and outside linebacker besides serving on special teams in his career and he is willing to take any role the Rams offer him.
He said:
“I am willing to do whatever to help this team get to the next level. For me that is mainly stopping the run and earning the right to rush the passer and so whatever it is, we’ll do it.”
