Mario Kart Wii online, other characters disappearing and reappearing?

Hey, I don't know if it is cheating or just a glitch, but when I play Mario Kart Wii online I can see other players suddenly disappear then reappear in a different place. Is this just the game refreshing itself or is it cheating?

It's just lag either from your connection or someone else's.

It's common not just on the Wii but also on other consoles too.

There's really nothing you can do about it. :o
