Marion Bartoli out; Li Na in the Top-10 WTA rankings – Tennis News
French tennis ace, Marion Bartoli, carries on with her drastic run of form this season and has eventually slipped out of the Top-10 from the WTA Premier Rankings. Her title drought of the running year has moved her from the 10th  to the 11th spot in the latest release of the women’s ratings.
Bartoli hasn’t won a single championship title this season so far, utterly failing to enter the winners’ circles. She won 29 matches this year, suffering defeats in 18 encounters to keep declining in the WTA rankings. She featured two tournament finals in the running circuit but was outplayed on both occurrences to remain away from glory. She first reached the final of the WTA event on her home soil in Paris and was hunted down by the German number one, Angelique Kerber, in a stiff three-setter.
After featuring the quarter-finals and semi-final rounds of a number of tournaments, Bartoli finally earned her second title shot in Carlsbad but was outdone by the sheer brilliance of the Slovakian tennis ace, Dominika Cibulkova, in the final. Her early fall in Montreal Masters faded away her chances of holding into the Top-10 rankings anymore and a sublime run from the Chinese number one, Li Na, did the rest.
The 30-year-old Chinese reached the final of the coveted Rogers Cup event but was defeated by the Czech beauty queen, Petra Kvitova, in the crunch match. Kvitova climbed up a spot to secure the world number five spot, whilst Li Na also gathered up sufficient points to break back into the elite Top-10. She has claimed the world number nine slot in the latest release of WTA, with Bartoli falling out to the 11th rank and Sara Errani slipping away to the world number 10 spot.
Albeit the Chinese number one couldn’t break her title drought in Montreal, she still achieved a breakthrough to reach the ninth spot in the world rankings. She was seen in superb form throughout her Montreal campaign and is very hopeful of carrying on the similar sort of heroics in the upcoming Grand Slam event, the US Open Championships, in New York.
