Mariott CasaMagna PUERTO VALLARTA: Any suggestions, comments, tips?

I'll be going to this resort in a month. I'd like to know from people who have stayed there any advice about the resort or surrounding area. How do I get a refridgerator in my room (it says only some w/ fridge)? Are the rooms nice? Spacious? Any part of the hotel to avoid or must check out? What are some good places to eat in the vicinity? Do hotels around the CasaMagna allow you to go in and eat at their restaurants? What's the best beach to check out? The best way to get into town? From the airport? Anything else that you learned and wish you would have found out sooner?

Sorry about all the questions, but I'd LOVE to hear anything you have to say. I get a vacation about once every 4 years, so I really want to make the best of it!

Thank you!!!

  1. If I was going to Puerto Vallarta I would rent a condo or villa directly from an owner. That way you have a kitchen so don't have to worry about how to get a fridge. Also you can cook your own meals if you don't feel like going out.  Many vacation rentals have great amenities such as private pools etc.  We never stay in hotels anymore when we travel.  Check out this site for some ideas.  http://www.idealvacationrentals.com/puer...

  2. I have stayed at the hotel last year and I am going back next week for another week stay. TO get there from the airport you can take a taxi about 10.00 or else the hotel will provide service for 20.00. The hotel is beautiful. The ground and surrounding area are also very nice. The hotels surroundings will welcome you in with no problem. To get a frig room you need to have a certain room grade. You may want to call and ask them what it requires. I have spoken to them and set up day trips before they are very helpful and speak impeccable English. The Mikado restaurant on site is a nice place. The daily breakfast is also really nice. I usually ask the concierge for lunch/dinner suggestions. I also asked the taxi driver last time and we ended up at an incredible tucked away restaurant that was one of the highlights of the trip. I spend most of the day at the pool around the swim up bar. You will also want to visit the Malecon (downtown) a short taxi ride. Also for day trips set up a agave/tequila trip. Or there is a Canopy trip where you repel in the jungle. I swam with dolphins last time. It was pricey but I consider it well worth it. There is also a pirate theme adult dinner/drink cruise to take that is fun. You will find the hotel to be a top notch hotel and the staff friendly and very helpful. So enjoy
