Marius Copil stuns Igor Kunitsyn in the round two – Geneva Open 2012 CH 
Ranked 172nd in the South African ATP (Association of Tennis Professional) World Tour Rankings, Marius Copil defeated his Russian rival, Igor Kunitsyn, in the second round of the Geneva Challenger 2012 at the hard courts
of GreenSet GrandPrix, Switzerland. He jolted down victory at 6-4, 7-5 on the eve of Thursday.
Previously in September 2012 at the Izmir Challenger held at the hard courts of Turkey. He encountered the most thrilling match in the first round as Russian senior withdrew in the second set bestowing the win onto his junior.
The 31-year-old Russian challenger was unable to sustain his serve in the opener and his Romanian challenger drew the first blood by bagging the initial two games. With time, he started to gain momentum and battled hard to secure
the lead. However, both the competitors preserved their serves the entire time, proving to be tough rival against one another. Nonetheless, Copil waged a constant battle in order to sustain his lead and ultimately managed to take down his rival and terminated
the set with a 6-4 score line.
In the second set, the right-hander Russian veteran progressed with a strong determination and fought back to equalize the score line. The two professionals held their serves throughout and continuously levelled down the score
after every alternate game. Copil managed to achieve his required breakthrough in the 11th game, he took a flyer bagging away the last two games and marked a 7-5 win to the match.
World number 156, Kunitsyn, double faulted twice but he secured a better initial serve precision of 65 percent. He pocketed away 16 of 20 first and five of 11 second serve points. In comparison to this, the Romanian contender thundered
eight aces and did not even once commit a single double fault. He secured 57 percent initial serve accuracy with 14 of 21 first and 12 of 16 second delivery points.
For the next round, the 6 ft 4 inch Romanian tennis star will contest against wildcard entrant, Stephane Bohli. Previously he defeated the unseeded, Frenchman, Kenny De Schepper and has a fair chance to upset all odds.
