It was a day of double joy for spirited duo Marius Fartum-Allen Hsu as they sealed two consecutive victories in group stage of Boy’s Doubles Under-19 category in MBBC Jr. International on July 18, 2012.
They overpowered Rolando Hernandez-Julio Morales before trouncing Long Lieu-Yien Nguyen at Manhattan Beach, California, USA.
The duo registered straight-set victories in both encounters and made strong statement about their tactical and technical strength.
Marius and Allen, who belong to Norway and USA respectively, started this grand saga of success by overwhelming third seeded duo of Guatemala with a staggering knock of 21-9 and 21-8.
They did not give their challengers even a single chance to get settled and wrapped both segments of the tussle with a huge difference.

They ruled in first half with 11-5 margin and then magnified the impact by putting a convincing figure of 21-9 at the end of the first set.
The second set was concluded in even less time as Rolando-Julio hardly put any resistance throughout the game.
They lost the first half with notable difference of 4-11 and then surrendered after reading a mountainous total of 8-21.
However, it was not smooth sailing for Marius and Allen in next encounter as they had to face strong resistance from the native shuttlers.
This time they were subjected to tough trial as they were not just competing Long Lieu-Yien Nguyen but they were also up against local crowd which assembled to support national campaigners.
The US duo showed their intentions in very first set when they grabbed six points in a row. This deficit proved severe blow to opposing team who could not recover until 6-11.
Marius and Allen proved themselves late bloomers as they added 16 points in their total and won first set with a tight yet decisive margin of 22-20.
