Marjuki stamps Kevin in qualifying round of 2013 Nasional Li Ning Jakarta Open
Indonesia’s young but talented male shuttler Marjuki alarmed all the contestants of Djarum Sirkuit Nasional Li Ning Jakarta Open by remaining invincible in the second stage of qualifying round on May 14, 2013.
He locked horns with a compatriot player Kevin and this 43-minute tussle ended with decisive figures of 13-21, 21-16 and 21-9.
With this splendid win, he marched into final stage of Boys’ Singles Under-19 qualifying round and his next competitor will be Paulus Gustina S.
Marjuki, who was underrated earlier in this event, has elevated his status with his staggering knock in this round.
On the other hand, Kevin could not serve the notice of his potential and crashed out of this event in a disgraceful manner.
Though, he had a perfect start in this match but then his below par performance in the ending two games put his expedition to halt.
In the opening game, he launched an intensive attack and established a decent lead in no time. He relished full benefits of this advantage and doubled his total in next few rallies.
At one-minute break, he was in commanding position with an impressive total of 11 and this significant lead helped him in ruling the court in latter part of the game. He played flawless badminton and swept the table with a staggering knock of 21-13.
However, it proved his last success in this tournament as the opposing shuttler stormed back with a strong reply and tipped the scale in his favour.
This time Marjuki improvised his game plan and confounded his competitor with an unbeatable strategy.
He played with an authoritative approach from very first stroke till the last one and brought the contest to right balance with a decisive figure of 21-16.
The decider proved a one-sided affair as Marjuki did not give his rival even a single counterattack opportunity and sealed a splendid victory.
He showed his intention straight away in the beginning and bagged many valuable points in a row. He maintained a significant difference on the points table and finished this crucial game with an overwhelming score of 21-9 on the board.
