Final encounter of the 2012 World Open snooker tournament at the Haikou Stadium arena was totally dominated by the Northern Irishman, Mark Allen who trashed England’s Stephen Lee by an easy score line of 10-1 to clinch his first major ranking title.
The Antrim potter is must be looking forward to hit as many title as he cane in the rest of his career. The Pistol is hungering for more trophies as he has a lot of confidence from his marvellous victory against the Englishman in the Chinese event final.
Allen’s performance from the very beginning of the tournament was outstanding as he breezed into the final beating the likes of Judd Trump and Mark Selby.
Allen had his chances to win his first title when he played impressively in the 2011 UK Championship and cruised into the final encounter against the 2011 World Snooker Championship finalist, England’s Judd Trump. However, unfortunately, he was not able
to play better than Trump and lost the final clash. Despite his lost, Allen continued his efforts and finally ensured his dominance in the 2012 World Open.
The 26-year-old will be looking forward to give the best of his skills in the upcoming tournaments and add some trophies in his profile. So far, he has not been one of the leading snooker players and has won a couple of minor titles. To become the top potter
across the globe, Allen needs some important major titles in his account.
After winning his final run over Lee in the 2012 World Open, Allen said, “It's been a long time coming as I've been a pro for seven years now. Sometimes you question if you're ever going to win one especially if you look at the players who have been winning
tournaments as I know I'm as good, if not better as some people who have won events so you have to be strong mentally and I think this will be the first of many.”
He added, “I don't think I have anything to worry about any more - the biggest worry I had was winning this tournament and all the pressure is going to be on other players to beat me.”
Allen will soon be heading to Crondon Park Golf Club in Stock, England to participate in the 2012 Championship League Snooker Winners Group matches.
