Mark Allen prevails after tough competition against Judd Trump in Round 2: 2012 World Open
Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen gave England’s Judd Trump a flashback and avenged his defeat of the 2011 UK Championship final and the 2012 German Masters after trashing him by the score line of 5-4 in Round 2 of 2012 World Open at the Haikou Stadium arena
in Hainan, China.
The Allen-Trump clash was an intense clash after all because both potters knew all strengths and weaknesses of each other as they have played at the same table quite a few times in the current season. Both potters were trying their best to surpass each other
during the match but Allen prevailed finally.
The pair had met in the second round of 2011 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 2, final of the 2011 UK Championship at York Barbican Centre and the second round of 2012 German Masters.
In all these clashes, the former World Snooker Championship finalist, Trump was victorious. However, Allen has now added one win to his side of odds too after ousting the Englishman 5-4.
Allen spoke to the World Snooker after his match, “I thought I was a little unlucky to be 3- 0 behind but from 3-0 I played pretty well and I think I deserved the win in the end. When you play Judd there's normally not a lot of safety to be played and it's
very open and lots of big breaks.”
The Antrim potter, “I think he's probably the best player in the world right now so I'm happy to have got through and it's a good win for me. You have to believe in yourself and I've beaten the best players in world so there's no reason I couldn't win today
but you have to play well and luckily enough I did.”
The Bristolian potter, Trump was being considered one of the top contenders to claim the title including China’s own Ding Junhui and Wales’ Mark Williams. However, all three of them are now out of the contest as they could not prove themselves worthy and
failed to improvise according to the requirements.
Allen, on the other hand, will next meet England’s Mark king in the quarter-finals of 2012 World Open snooker tournament at the Haikou Stadium arena.
