Mark Allen reaches Round 2 of 2012 Wuxi Classic after beating Rouzi Maimaiti
Winner of the 2012 Haikou World Open snooker tournament, Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen has made his way successfully into the second round of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event after trouncing the Chinese Wild Card holder Rouzi Maimaiti in the opening round
by the score line of 5-1. He will be facing the winner of first round match between Mark Williams and Tom Ford.
Allen performed brilliantly in his first encounter at the Wuxi Sports Center in Wuxi, China and totally unsettled his opponent with his impressive game play. The playing environment at the venue was outstanding with dozens of snooker fans present there to
watch the game. Allen bounced back from 0-1 down to grab five consecutive frames and claim victory by 5-1.
While speaking to World Snooker after his victory, Allen said, “I didn't play my best but the result is all that matters really. I haven't had much practice leading up to this event but I will try my best and hopefully it will stand me in good stead for
the rest of the tournament.”
The Pistol added, “I don't mind which of the two I play, either Mark Williams or Tom Ford. If I play well I'd expect to beat either player but at the same time if I play bad then that chances are that whoever gets through will win.”
Last time Allen was in China during his run in the 2012 China Open where he crashed out of the tournament at the hands of Ricky Walden in the first round. Before that, he was able to claim the 2012 Haikou World Open title beating England’s Stephen Lee.
Recently the Northern Irishman was fined by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) due to his remarks about the Chinese players. He was charged £10,000 as fine against making such negative comments about his opponent, Cao Yupeng
and all other Chinese cuemen.
During his 2012 World Snooker Championship, Allen lost to Yupeng by 10-6 and was very disappointed. In his post match interview he accused his opponent for cheating during the game which caused him a little trouble. It will be interesting to see how Allen
manages to stay composed and competitive after having been fined for his negative comments earlier.
