Mark Anderson records his best finish of the year at RBC Heritage, as he shoots 68 on Sunday
American Mark Anderson shot a 68 in the final round of the RBC Heritage, finishing tied for the 13th position, with three other contenders.
Anderson shot five birdies and two bogeys on Sunday, at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina. This was his best finish of the current year, as he bagged $106,875, the highest amount earned in his career.
The 26-year-old American professional golf player started the round slowly. He scored a 2-over par in the first round and shot a 73.
On Friday, he displayed a far better game and finished at par, by recording a 71. Then, in the third round, he achieved 2-under 69 and improved his leaderboard position impressively.
He played his best round of the tournament on Sunday and finished tied for the 13th with Vaughn Taylor, Brian Davis and Robert Garrigus. They all scored a 3-under 281 in the four-day tournament and competed well against each other.
Anderson was happy to record good scores in the final round. His putting, performance on the fairways, driving distance and accuracy were amazing on Sunday.
“It was a great round of golf and probably one of the better ones I've played all year,” Anderson said. “I played really solid and I putted well and I hit some beautiful iron shots so it was a lot of fun”.
He added, “It's just exciting to play well. That's what we're out here for and it's tough but it feels good when you get it done. I felt like I've played very consistent all year and I'm putting extremely well and it's kind of helped me get into some of
these tournaments. It all came together this week at the right time and I'm very fortunate for that”.
Anderson turned professional in 2009 and has played on the Nationwide Tour and the US based PGA Tour since then. He performed well many times but has not won any professional title so far.
He was playing the RBC Heritage on a sponsor's exemption. After performing well and recording his best, he is ranked on the 109th position on the money list rankings.
There are many opportunities for the young professional in future. If he performs well in the upcoming tournaments, he can easily earn a full-time PGA Tour card for 2013.
