Mark Bocek to fight at home against Nik Lentz – Preview: UFC 140
Canadian mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Mark Bocek would face American MMA fighter Nik Lentz at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 140 event. It is scheduled to take place on December 10, 2011 in Ontario, Canada. Both fighters
have been fighting in the UFC ring for quite some time and would try to prove their mettle in the ring when they face each other on December 10, 2011.
Both fighters have the same height, as they stand at 5ft 8in. They also weigh the same at 155 lbs (pounds). For both the players, there will be no advantage for them in terms of reach. However, the two fighters would look out at
each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
As far as striking capabilities are concerned, Lentz would have an upper hand for he has a 23% striking success rate as compared to the 13% success rate Bocek has with his strikes. Lentz would try to give some early strikes in
the first round to gain some advantage over his opponent.
In terms of takedowns and submissions, it is Bocek who has a 44% success rate in these two fighting styles, while Lentz has a success rate of 38% each. For Bocek, he would be the inexperienced fighter in the bout for he has won
nine bouts and lost four. One the other hand, Lentz has won twenty-three bouts in his career with three losses and two fights ending in a no contest.
Lentz would try to focus on his takedown skills. Although he has a lower takedown success rate as compared to Bocek, but he has utilized his takedown moves on his opponents. He would also use his strong kicks which can put Bocek
out of balance and out of focus in the bout. For Bocek, he would concentrate on using his grappling tactics.
As both fighters are in the same weight category, Bocek could takedown Lentz easily but if Lentz can use his kicks and target Bocek’s arms and abdomen, then he can prevent Bocek from using his power moves. Lentz, nicknamed The
Canry, made his professional MMA debut in July 2005. He has been undefeated since September 2007.
Bocek, who made his professional MMA debut in February 2004, lost his last fight against American MMA fighter Benson Henderson at UFC 129 in April 2011. For Bocek, the home crowd advantage would be the most important factor which
will be on his side at UFC 140. Either of the two fighters can get a win as they both have the potential to give the MMA and UFC fans a great bout.
