Mark Boucher's familiarity of Indian pitches will assist Kolkata Knight Riders says Dave Whatmore
Kolkata Knight Riders’ head coach Dave Whatmore believes Mark Boucher’s experience of playing on Indian soil will be an added advantage for his side during the lucrative Indian Premier League.
Whatmore is delighted by the inclusion of the South African cricketer, Boucher. He commented that apart from the vast experience of Indian conditions the wicket-keeper batsman will also bring flexibility with him as he can bat anywhere in the batting line-up.
KKR coach said, “Boucher is a very experienced campaigner. He has got a lot of experience of the sub-continent which is equally important. He can fit into any role whether on the top or in the middle. He comes as a highly qualified player and we have this
opportunity to have Mark for rest of the season.”
The coach was optimistic about the South African and hoped that he will give his best during the ongoing IPL-season four. Boucher, who was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has been called into the side to replace Australia’s Brad Haddin. An MRI report
revealed that the Australian has not yet recovered from a finger fracture that he suffered during the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747. This injury will prevent Haddin from taking any further part in IPL.
KKR has spent a lot of money in this edition of IPL and has acquired the services of players like South Africa’s iconic all-rounder Jacques Kallis, India’s explosive middle-order batsman Yusuf Pathan, England’s Eoin http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623.
Gambhir has been given the role of leading the KKR side as Sourav Ganguly is no longer part of the franchise. So far, the skipper has done a good job as they have been victorious in five matches from eight played. Because of these wins they are now placed
at Number three in the points table. Their confidence is sky high and they would ideally love to continue their good run.
KKR coach emphasised, “We are looking to continue and win as many games as possible. There is still a lot of cricket to be played in the competition. Slipping up is really not on the agenda like any other team. We lost some games too but we are back to the
winning ways. We would like to continue in the similar fashion.”
KKR will go up against Deccan Chargers on Tuesday, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792. KKR will be away from home and their coach is buoyant of his side and believes they can defeat any side in the IPL on any surface.
Whatmore turned down the claims that the toss will play a crucial role in deciding the match and concludes that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders have to play whether they bat first or second. If KKR win the match they will take the Number one spot.
