The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 wicketkeeper batsman, Mark Boucher, has said that the Warriors is the best run franchise in South Africa, adding that it was a difficult decision for him to leave the franchise he played for throughout his career.
Boucher’s expressed his sentiments for the franchise after deciding to leave Warriors and join Cobras as he wants to spend more time at home.
"For me Warriors is one of the best-run franchises in the country. It was a huge and difficult decision for me to leave," said the 34-year-old while talking to the media reporters on Tuesday. "Cape Town is my home and I do need to
be based there, to explore business opportunities for my future," he added further.
Boucher, who was born in Cape Province and grew up in East London, debuted with Warriors in the 1995-96 season and played for the franchise throughout his career before having a brief stint with Cobras in the 2007-08 season. However,
the next season he went back to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 after a dispute with the management of Cobras.
But now, after having the dispute settled with the Cobras’ management, the wicketkeeper batsman is all set to return to the franchise.
Boucher has so far played 139 Tests and 292 One Day Internationals with a tally of 5312 and 4664 runs in each format of the game respectively.
After Boucher’s departure, the Warriors skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Davy-Jacobs-c1343 would have to shoulder the additional responsibility of keeping the wickets.
Another stalwart the Warriors would miss this season is the prolific Proteas all-rounder, Jacques Kallis, who also lives in Cape Town and wants to spend more time with family.
Kallis played most of his cricket with Cobras. However, after a dispute with Cobras’ management, Kallis played for Warriors in the 2008-09 season.
The 35-year-old Cape Town all-rounder has so far played 145 Tests, 314 One Day Internationals and 16 Twenty20 Internationals for South Africa. He averages above 57 in the five day format of the game while in ODIs he has compiled a
tally of 11227 runs at an average of 45.45.
The Warriors’ chief executive, Dave Emslie, praised both the players for their contribution to the efforts of the Warriors.
"We fully appreciate the respective positions of Jacques and Mark and thank them for their contribution to the efforts of the Warriors,” said Emslie.
