Mark Boucher, the side-lined South African wicket-keeper, is hopeful of his One-Day International recall after AB de Villiers failed to make his place in the Proteas squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia due to a hand injury.
"I think I've still got a lot to add to my game and to South Africa as well," said Boucher.
Boucher was not included in Sout Africa’s squad for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2011."
"Obviously being left out you get a bit of time to go back to the drawing book and think about what went wrong,” spoke Boucher in regards to being dropped from the World Cup squad.
The South African selectors will meet on Friday to discuss their Twenty20 and ODI squads for the upcoming series against Australia, while the final squads will be announced next week.
The 34-year-old said that he was still motivated and passionate to serve the Proteas, adding that he has been trying hard to stay fit and has also been working to bring improvement in his ODI game.
The veteran said that he has been engaged in cricket for the past 15 years and feel that now there is a need to bring some change in his game according to the requirement of the modern era.
"I don't want to look too far ahead because I don't know where I'm going to be in four years' time. I'd like to think that the hunger will still be there, and I'm not worried about the fitness because I'm prepared to work twice as hard as anyone else if I have to,” asserted the passionate cricketer.
The wicket-keeper batsman has featured in 292 ODIs, where he scored 4664 runs at an average of 28.79, including one century and 26 fifties. During his overall International cricketing career uptil now, he has made 400 dismissals.
South Africa will play Australia in a two-match Twenty20 series, a three-match ODI series and a two-match Test competition.
The two teams will first face each other in the Twenty20 series, scheduled to be started on October 13, 2011.
