Mark Boucher out of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 tour with eye injury – Cricket News Roundup – July 10, 2012 – Part 2
South African wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 at the County Ground in Taunton.
“The extent of the eye injury can be described as severe," the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 manager Mohammed Moosajee confirmed to
ESPNcricinfo. “... He is definitely out of the series and will return home as soon as able to travel. The selectors will announce a replacement shortly.”
A veteran of 147 Tests, and 295 ODIs, Boucher was struck on the eye by a dislodged bail after a googly from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thami-Tsolekile-c2662 is likely to be named as a replacement for the wicketkeeper batsman. For Boucher, the injury may mark
the end of his career, as the right-hander had previously announced that the England tour would be his last.
New Zealand head coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Geoffrey-Wright-c67883 has cast doubts over Brendon McCullum’s participation in the third ODI of the Kiwis series against the West Indies, saying the wicketkeeper batsman might be too jet-lagged to participate in the match, due to be
played at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts on July 11.
“We'll see how he feels. It's a long journey, but that may be a little bit tight,” Wright said.
McCullum is due to land in St Kitts 20 hours before the match begins, and the head coach has revealed that while the chances of his featuring in the 3rd ODI are unlikely, the 30-year-old will definitely play in the 4th and 5th
ODI of the series. McCullum’s presence is likely to boost the team in a big way, after the 4 consecutive defeats the Kiwis have suffered at the hands of the Windies.
In a tribute to the deceased batsman, the West Indies cricket team have named July 11 “Runako Morton Day”, to honour their former teammate, in addition to dedicating the third match of the ongoing ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 to the memory of the
former cricketer.
“We want to show our appreciation for Runako, who was one of us and remains one of us. He played with most of the guys in the team and he was loved by everyone ... We thought this would be the ideal way to pay tribute,” said Windies skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382.
Morton featured in 15 Tests, 56 ODIs, and 7 T20Is for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, between 2002 and 2010. He lost his life earlier this year, at the age of 33, in a tragic road accident.
