Mark Boucher unlikely to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cape-Cobras-c776 again – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MV-Boucher-c2048, the former South African wicketkeeper/batsman, has hinted the end of his professional career because he cannot afford to risk his left eye, although he wanted to keep playing domestic cricket.
The 35-year-old cricketer was struck on his eye by a dislodged bail during day one of South Africa’s practice match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 last month. The seasoned keeper was straightaway taken to the hospital, where he underwent a severe surgery.
The cricketer from Cape Province immediately announced his retirement from international cricket, with the selectors calling http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thami-Tsolekile-c2662 as his replacement for the on-going tour of England, where the Proteas are battling to replace the home team as the
number one ranked Test side of the globe.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GC-Smith-c1473 and company have so far dominated the series and look favourites to clinch the battle.
Boucher expressed during a press conference in Cape Town that his career is almost finished because playing competitive cricket may put a danger to his normal life, his eye being extremely sensitive now.
"It is unlikely that I will play any professional cricket again in the near future, which is very unfortunate as I was looking forward to contributing as a player for the Cobras," the great cricketer said. "The risk of additional damage to my left eye or
even damage to the other eye, doesn't warrant it."
The legendary wicketkeeper played 212 first-class matches, majority of them for his country and Cape Cobras, grabbing more than 700 dismissals. On top of that, the stylish cricketer had in excess of eight thousand runs in four-day cricket.
Having played professional cricket for almost two decades, it is extremely difficult for the former gloveman to stay at home and watch his country battle hard in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
"It does get uncomfortable at times and being a sportsman, I want to be active and outdoors but, without a pupil, I find any amount of sunlight very harsh and have thus been restricted to the confines of my home," he added.
