Mark Buehrle aims to continue with his fiery pitches in 2012 regular season - MLB Update
Joining Miami Marlins as a result of their off-season extravaganza, Mark Buehrle looks to build on his sparkling career as a left-handed pitcher. As sheer pace and fury, his pitches go crashing to batters and as his scintillating career record of 161-119
suggests he can be a real asset for the Marlins to bet on in the season.
Ever since the Marlins have fetched big-wigs in off-season purchases, their 2012 season prospects have revised diametrically. Whopping amounts in deals with players like Jose Reyes at $108 million and $58 million spent suggest their penchant for glory. As
Buehrle can bundle out line-ups in a flash of few moments, he has to prove it for the Marlins.
Citing his success to co-ordination with fielders, he believes if a pitcher hits the plate right in zone consistently, batters are destined to fall off.
With first baseman, catcher and shortstop all on the same page, he takes his pitches through the batters and the fact he throws at a massive pace goes to further complicate task for them.
Ozzie Guillen pins high hopes on him and since both of them have been together at Chicago White Sox, the manager understands how decisive he can turn out to be for the club.
“It’s great for the team. This kid can really pitch,” Guillen said. “He’s been a winner. He’s won at every stage in baseball. He’s a great guy in the clubhouse. He’s here for a reason. And he has $56 million reasons to be.”
Many believe the way he finishes off innings is reminiscent of classic Baseball days when games were a matter of just a few hours. In a pitcher friendly era, batters will not enjoy much homers coming off, instead they had to rely more on runs manufacturing
techniques.
Another distinction coming his way is an amazing ERA of 3.83 he posted while playing most part of his career in America League. Since the League is considered a pitchers' graveyard thanks to the rules in place there, his ERA explains how big a threat he
is going to be in the National League.
In modern day baseball, batters make pitchers toil on the mound and draw home-runs through ways unknown in the past. Buehrle is a rare exception in this regard, giving him something giving him a head high over his contemporaries.
