Mark Buehrle brings pride for Miami Marlins as he claims Gold Glove Award - MLB Update

For a team that faces the shortage of positives they can find one in the form of the announcement that their starting pitcher Mark Buehrle becomes the best National League defensive pitcher. The Miami Marlins can be pleased with the fact that at-last they
have something to feel good about.
Buehrle was hired by the team alongside Jose Reyes and Heath Bell last year as part of their offseason spending spree. As he turned out to be one of their few starters that showed command at the mound, he has justified his inclusion in the team to some extent.
It is always difficult for a hurler to keep track of all the events happening at the bases while he takes strides for throwing the pitches. It is even tougher to watch out for movements and outwit the base-runners.
Picking off the base-runners is triggered by the impulsive reactions of the pitchers but most of the times throwing the ball back at the fielder does not bear any fruit. This means that while pitchers can strike-out batters, outthinking base-runners is not
easy.
In light of this, the way Buehrle stopped base-runners from stealing bases in the season, he deserves accreditation.
Interestingly, Buehrle has not won this honour for the first time. It is the fourth occasion when he claimed this distinction. He will be looking to continue with the same fashion in the upcoming seasons and make sure he brings more laurels for the Marlins.
Speaking after winning the honour, Buehrle stated that while he claimed it three times before, clinching it this year is more satisfying.
"I think the first one and this one probably mean a little bit more than the middle two," Buehrle said. "This is one Award that I've always wanted to win. Ever since I made it to the big leagues, I've always taken pride to field my position."
For him, becoming the Number one defensive pitcher has been his dream. Before entering into the Majors, he always cherished the idea of hoodwinking base-runners and winning accolades after delivering impressive performances at the mound.
It will be interesting to see how he maintains his current status as pitcher in the upcoming seasons.
