Mark Buehrle to get a fresh start with Toronto Blue Jays – MLB Update
Miami Marlins took a drastic step and agreed with the Toronto Blue Jays for a mega deal which will send their two main players Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle to Toronto.
"Watcha think Toronto?! I'm still waiting for those 'It's Official' words. But I am beyond excited for the city, fans and the team, Boom," tweeted Blue Jays' starting pitcher Ricky Romero.
“This is a complete disgrace, I think it is time for boycotts and protests,” commented a Marlins Fan on a news website.
"Alright, I'm pissed off!!! Plain & Simple," Giancarlo Stanton, Marlins' outfielder.
"Its a good day to be a bluejay," Jose Bautista, Jays' outfielder.
The deal is yet to be disclosed but close sources are claiming that the Blue Jays will also get right-hander Josh Johnson as part of the deal.
Coming onto Buehrle, who is a twelve-year Major League veteran, with extraordinary pitching skills is also considered one of the most consisting starters in the game. Since coming into the big league in 2000, he has spent most of his time with the Chicago White Sox but after he joined hands with the Miami Marlins last year, Buehrle’s real struggle started.
He came into the franchise which was already struggling with its new management, new home field, new manager and with a new identity.
However, he performed and finished with 13 wins and 13 losses. His ERA remained consistent with 3.74 while he struck-out 125 on 1.17 WHIP.
This was still a good performance but the management, who was already not happy with the overall team’s performance in the past Major League Baseball season, wanted to bring some serious changes in the roster.
They evaluated all the players and decided to ratify their dire active roster with more consistent and aggressive players.
Experts believe that this late trade with Blue Jays is the result of that evaluation which was very much needed in the franchise.
Meanwhile, Jose Reyes is another Miami player who has been traded to the Blue Jays.
With nine years of Major League experience, Reyes finished 2012 MLB season with .287 hitting average along with eleven homers 57 RBIs and .347 hitting average.
