Mark Cavendish eying Road World Championship win at Geelong
The Manx racing cyclist, Mark Cavendish has admitted that he still isn’t good enough to be the World Champion. Although, his ability and capacity cannot be ignored but it still seems that he would need to work harder and show some dedication if he is to
prove himself as the best in cycling.
The 25-year-old is currently in Australia. He participated in the training session for the upcoming Road World Championships’ race and felt that the steep climbs of Geelong Circuit are not at all easy for him. Cavendish is currently considered to be one
of the best cyclists in the world. While talking to the media persons, he said that he still has time to improve his skills so he would work harder to clutch the top spot in the cycling world.
The double Madison World Champion has had a good racing season as in his recent tour of Spain he won the green points jersey. The sprint specialist also performed well in the Tour de France. He now eyes the Road World Championships at Geelong in Australia
for which he stated that “Everyone says it’s not really a sprinters course, but it’s a course I can win on. I am not the favorite but it is possible to win. I am just taking it easy. Recover and rest up. I have come out of the Tour of Spain really strong and
now the focus is on Sunday week.”
The training on the 15.2 km long circuit has given him a view of the race’s difficulty and now the Commonwealth Games gold medallist
has to plan and make his mind in order to acquire the best results. The Manx racer can face some serious difficulties as when it comes to climbing, he doesn’t seem that good. This race is no doubt a test for the veteran before him leaving for India
to contest the Commonwealth Games.
Racing at the highest level requires cyclists to remain physically fit as stamina plays an important role in cycle racing. The fans of cycle racing as well as the cyclist from Isle of Man hope for the best and wish Mark Cavendish good luck for the upcoming
event.
