Mark Cavendish frustrated over Roberto Ferrari
Mark Cavendish of Team Sky has shared his frustration over Team Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela cyclist Roberto Ferrari.
Mark rode brilliantly during the race and filled his bag with the second stage victory at the race.
The Manxman was looking good during the third stage of the race but was unlucky to have involved in a massive crash that brought numerous cyclists on the ground.
Stage 1 winner and the stage 3 classifications leader Taylor Phinney also injured his ankle in the crash, after Roberto Ferrari changed his sprint line.
Cavendish was disappointed by Ferrari’s move and shared his disappointment on the twitter page.
"Ouch! Crashing at 75kph isn't nice! Nor is seeing Roberto Ferrari's manoeuvre. Should be ashamed to take out Pink, Red & World Champ jerseys".
He continued, "Apparently Roberto Ferrari has said to journalists, when asked about the incident, that he can't see what happens behind him & doesn't care".
"Is the team of Roberto Ferrari or the UCI going to do the right thing? Other riders, including myself, have been sent home for much less".
Gianni Savio is Team Androni-Venezuela Manager and he apologised to Cavendish through Cyclingnews.
“I'm on the bus going and I will apologize to Mark Cavendish in the name of the team and in the name of Roberto Ferrari," he cited.
Cavendish was lucky to have survived any major injuries and Team Sky doctor has confirmed that the cyclist is fit and will ride the coming stages of the event.
The 26-year-old currently holds the 13th overall spot after the stage 3 classifications with a deficit of 27 seconds behind the race leader Taylor Phinney.
Geraint Thomas of Team Sky is 9 seconds behind at the second position with Alex Rasmussen of Team Garmin-Barracuda at the second spot.
Manuele Boaro, Ramunas Navardauskas, Gustav Larsson, Brett Lancaster, Matthew Harley Goss, Marco Pinotti and Jesse Sergent hold the next seven spots.
The cyclists are now enjoying the first rest day of the race and will resume during the event stage 4 of the race on May 10th, 2012.
The 32.2 kilometre team’s time trial stage is scheduled in Verona and the overall classifications leader Taylor Phinney is hopeful to continue his dominance at the event.
