Mark Cosgrove builds Tasmania's lead over Western Australia in Sheffield Shield
Tasmania extended their lead against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 (WA) to 116 runs at tea on the second day of a Sheffield Shield match at Perth.
Tasmania started the day’s second session with just two wickets down for 186 runs. However, the team lost three wickets in the second session and took their total to 276 for the loss of five wickets. The wicket has been playing well and the Tasmanian batsmen
have taken advantage of that.
The start to the post-lunch session was terrible for Tasmania as they lost both their batsmen, who were unbeaten before lunch. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Bailey-c1480 didn’t add a single run to the total and had to take a long walk back to the pavilion.
When play resumed, Doolan was unbeaten on 22 while Bailey was not-out on one run. Bailey was the first man to be dismissed in the session and was followed by Doolan just three balls later. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854 were in deep trouble as they lost two wickets without scoring
a run to slump to 186 for four.
That brought Mark Cosgrove into the middle and he was joined by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Faulkner-c1643 at the crease. The pair took the total over 200, but Faulkner wasn’t able to support Cosgrove for long, as he was sent back to the pavilion after scoring just six runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Butterworth-c1850 then ensured that his team didn’t lose any wicket before tea as he steadied the ship for Tasmania. He complemented Cosgrove very well by rotating the strike continuously. On the other hand, Cosgrove played his shots freely when he got the
opportunity and kept the scoreboard ticking over for his team.
Cosgrove had completed his half-century by the tea. He was unbeaten on 61 and got some good support from his partner Butterworth, who was rock solid on 20 in an unbeaten 68-run partnership.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Coulter-Nile-c2070 did the damage for Western Australia in the post lunch session. Duffield took two wickets whereas, while Coulter-Nile dismissed one batsman. The final session of play will be crucial for both teams and Tasmania will
be looking forward to extending their lead further.
