Mark Cuban all smiles after Los Angeles Lakers fire Mike Brown – NBA Update
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban hates the Los Angeles Lakers, period.
And he couldn’t hide his pleasure at their misery, one which stemmed out of the firing of their head coach Mike Brown;
"That's a quick trigger," Cuban said during an interaction with media at the Madison Square Garden, where his team played the New York Knicks. "That is a quick trigger. But, hey, it's the same thought I have all the time. I hope
they have to do it again this season. A couple times. Five times, maybe."
The Lakers despite acquiring Steve Nash and Dwight Howard in what was a block buster off season, have struggled to muster up favourable results. Nash injured himself in the second game after pretty much being non-existent in the
first one, while Dwight Howard has himself admitted that he is not a 100 percent after his back surgery.
Under the circumstances, Brown couldn’t have done much and his idea of installing the Princeton Offense, didn’t help either. The side was just not coming to grips with the reaction based system, which was floated to remove the
offensive burden off the shoulders of Kobe Bryant.
In all fairness though, the decision to sack Brown was a bit hasty. Cuban echoed the same sentiment, but did acknowledge that every team has its own thought process.
"Don't you hate when that happens?" Cuban said with a smirk. "Nothing surprises me. Every team is different. Every team has its own approach.
"I just hope it was a huge mistake and they continue to make them."
The rivalry between the Mavs (read Cuban) is well documented. Despite being one of the elites in the Western Conference for a long time, the Mavericks just couldn’t manage to topple the Lakers for a long time. However all that
changed two seasons back when Dallas won its first ever championship, and to make it more satisfying, they swept the Lakers in the second round of playoffs during that run. Ever since that time, the Lakers have gone from strength to strength and the Mavs have
pretty much lost all of its championship team. But, the rivalry still goes on and Cuban seems to have fired the latest salvo.
