Mark Cuban brags about the Dallas Mavericks’ title win in court – NBA Update
The Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is really proud of having won the NBA World Championship for the first time in the history of the franchise and he’s even telling the court about it.
Mark Cuban is facing a case filed by the Dallas Mavericks minority owner Ross Perot Jr. over management issues. On Wednesday, Cuban filed a statement stating that since he has won the NBA title, the case should now be dismissed.
Ross Perot was the man from whom Mark Cuban bought the Dallas Mavericks. However, over the years Perot seems to have become disgruntled with the now majority owner aka Cuban and filed a case against him for mismanagement of the
Dallas Mavericks franchise, some time back.
Perot sites the fact that the organization has been losing money for the past few years now and blames Mark Cuban’s reckless approach for the losses.
Cuban on the other hand is proud of making the team successful since taking over and frankly, he doesn’t care about the money. Mark Cuban is one of the most colourful personalities that the league has seen over the years and has
been constantly in the headlines for the last decade for good and bad reasons alike. If one considers taunting and fighting with opposition players and coaches while lambasting the league’s officials and administration as bad, then he has been in the news
for mostly bad reasons.
However, behind the outspoken and pumped up Dallas Mavericks courtside cheerleader, is a shrewd and dedicated owner. The Mavericks were one of the worst teams in the league before Cuban bought the team and has since transformed
the club into one of the powerhouses of the NBA, qualifying for the playoffs every year for a decade and finally winning the Holy Grail of basketball this season.
And boy did he make sure that the court knew all that. Cuban’s statement, filed by his lawyers, refers to the Dallas Mavericks as "World Champion Dallas Mavericks" throughout while listing the accomplishments the team has made
under Mark Cuban’s ownership.
Not content at painting a picture for the court with mere words, the lawyers attached an actual picture. Yes, it shows the Dallas Mavericks super star German forward Dirk Nowitzki hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy above his head
with the rest of the players standing around him.
In light of such compelling evidence, the statement demanded that the case be immediately tossed out of the court, or in legal terms,”disposed of on summary judgment”.
Ross Perot Jr. was clearly not impressed. Perot spokesman Eddie Reeves responded saying,
"Ross Perot Jr. remains an owner of this team ... and no one is more delighted in the team's successes on the court," and added. "That's a different issue than the business matters that remain between Mr. Perot and Mr. Cuban."
