The outspoken Dallas Mavericks’ owner believes that super teams don’t always work; takes a dig at the Lakers
While the Los Angeles Lakers have gone about putting together one of the strongest lineups in NBA over the summer, the Dallas Mavericks have been rather unsuccessful in their plans.
The Mavericks lost out on Deron Williams after the point guard re-signed with the Brooklyn Nets early in the off-season and the Mavericks have been on a contingency plan every since.
On the other hand, the Lakers have brought in Dwight Howard and Steve Nash to play alongside the likes of Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Metta World Peace and the talks of them being the most formidable NBA outfit at present have taken
over. However there are many rivals who say that the Lakers are only strong on paper and will have to prove their worth on the court before being acclaimed as the best.
In a recent interview, Dallas owner Mark Cuban joined the list of such personal. He pointed towards history to support his argument as the Mavericks introduced five of their new signings at the American Airlines Center.
“The Lakers have done this before,” Cuban said. “Remember Gary Payton, Karl Malone and Kobe and Shaq were all together, and it didn’t work."
“Look, (the Lakers are) going to be a great team, but I remember when we made our run,” Cuban said. “We weren’t supposed to win any series. The Lakers were defending champs when we swept them, and they had everybody back. A lot
of teams do a great job winning the summer, but I never get so antsy about what happens over the summer.”
Cuban believes that putting together star players in a team is no guarantee of success. According to him, to win a championship teams need chemistry – something his team had in their title run in 2011 and he gave the due credit
to Rick Carlisle for working with only a limited set of players.

Cuban is known for having a say in almost everything. And for all Dallas fans, let’s just hope, he knows what he is talking about as Dallas has a long way to recovery after their disappointments in the summer.
