Mark Davis clinched 2012 Six-Red World Championship title beating Shaun Murphy
After putting up an excellent snooker display in the final encounter of the 2012 Six-Red World Championship at the Montien Riverside Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, Mark Davis of England was able to claim the tournament title after beating the former World Snooker
Championship winner, compatriot Shaun Murphy by an easy score line of 8-4.
The Englishman was in full swing against the former champ and proved that he can still create problems for any big potter of the professional line-up.
The clash was supposed to be the toughest game but Davis made it look easy in the end. The first two sessions of the game were topsy-turvy as both potters battled it out to get an early lead. At the end of the eighth frame, both potters were at 4-4 level.
After that, Davis dominated the table in the next session and cleared the baize in no time to win the match.
In his post match interview with World Snooker, Davis said, “It's about time I won something. My trouble has been a lack of self belief. Hopefully now I can now make progress up the rankings and win one of the majors on the way.”
Davis will be heading to Australia to take part in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker event at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria. He will be facing the young potter Jack Lisowski in the opening round of the tournament.
He spoke to the media, “I will have been away from home for a month by the time I get back and that's the longest ever. Of course I miss my wife and two children but this is my job and I have to make the most of it.”
Both Davis and Murphy performed in the 2012 Red-Six World Championship from the beginning of the event and played outstandingly to make their way into the final encounter of the event. Davis was up against Ricky Walden in the semi-final encounter and ousted
him by the score line of 7-2 easily. Meanwhile, the former champ Murphy played against the former World Snooker Championship runner up, England’s Judd Trump and claimed an easy win over him by 7-2.
