Mark Davis disheartened after losing semi-final to Stuart Bingham: 2012 Wuxi Classic
Start of the new snooker season campaign has been convincing for the Englishman Mark Davis as he made it to the semi-final encounter of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament which is the first major ranking event.
Despite the fact that he crashed out of the event at the hands of the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open winner, compatriot Stuart Bingham by the score line of 6-5, Davis is still on top of his performance.
The Englishman was quite confident before he entered the arena to take part in the semi-final encounter but tumbled down in the first session of the match at the hands of Bingham when he reached four frames up over Davis. At this point, Davis did not lose
his heart and continued playing well. His hard work paid him back in the second session of the match where he hit four frame wins to pull level at 4-4.
Equalising the scores by 4-4 gave courage and confidence to the Englishman and he grabbed the lead by 5-4 over Bingham to push him to the edge of defeat. However, despite all his efforts to put an end to Bingham’s run, Davis failed to claim one frame victory.
Bingham, on the other hand, took care of the proceedings in the next two frames to stamp his win by 5-6.
In his post match interview with World Snooker, Davis said, “It's painful, it's going to be painful for while I think. The first four frames I felt ok, I just didn't really settle down, my safety was terrible. I only missed a couple of balls but my safety
was terrible and I was 4-0 down. I played pretty much flawless snooker from then to go 5-4 up.”
He added, “But when you go 4-0 down, you give yourself no leeway so you can't afford any mistakes.”
Davis will now test his luck in the upcoming snooker event, the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria. He will be looking to put in a better performance in the upcoming tournament and build up some confidence
in his game-play.
