Mark Davis feeling fortunate after reaching semis of 2012 Wuxi Classic – Snooker Update
After winning the fourth qualifying match of the 2012 Wuxi Classic qualifying session at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield, England’s Mark Davis made his way into the initial round of the tournament. He displayed some scintillating snooker skills during
his tournament run and was able to hit the penultimate stage of the event after beating the former World Snooker Championship winner from Scotland, Graeme Dott by 5-0 in the quarters.
This year’s Wuxi Classic has produced some of the best tussling encounters which definitely show that the potters are on song with their form and they really want to put their efforts into making a good start of the new season. Davis’ run in the 2012 Wuxi
Classic is proof of his tremendous game-play and hard work that he put into his play. However, the Englishman believes that it was his luck which dragged him so far into the tournament.
During his post match interview with World Snooker, Davis said, “I've been a bit fortunate this week, my opponents haven't played as well as they can but that's the way it goes, you need that sometimes and I've taken advantage of it with 30s and 40s. I sound
like Mark Williams don't I?”
He added, “So I don't really care how I play to be honest. It's lovely to knock in centuries all the time but you can't always do that. Sometimes you've got to win a little bit more scrappy.”
The talented English potter produced stunning snooker skills against the 2012 Welsh Open snooker event winner, Ding Junhui of China in the first round and defeated him by the score line of 5-2 to carve first victory on his event card.
After that, there was no one who could stop the advancement of Davis as he cruised into two match wins over Scotland’s Jamie Burnett and the former champ Graeme Dott to book his place in the semi-final encounter. He will be facing the winner of the 2011
Australian Goldfields Open, compatriot Stuart Bingham. It will be interesting to see what type of impact Davis will have as he competes in the semi-finals of the tournament.
