Mark Davis hits semi-final place after beating Graeme Dott in 2012 Wuxi Classic quarters
Former World Snooker Championship winner from Scotland, Graeme Dott could not avail even a single chance to add one frame victory on his side of the score board. On the other hand, the talented and in-form Mark Davis cleared the table like a flash in all
five frames of the quarter-final clash of 2012 Wuxi Classic. He managed to cruise into a whitewash victory over Dott by the score line of 5-0.
Davis made his way into the quarter-final encounter after putting an end to Scotland’s Jamie Burnett’s run with a stunning score line of 5-3. Dott was definitely a difficult challenge for him to cope with but the Englishman proved he is not afraid of anyone
and put him to the edge firing some terrific snooker shots at the Wuxi Sports Center arena in Wuxi, China.
Due to the playing conditions at the sports arena, none of the players were above to compile big breaks but the real test was of endurance and strong nerves which Davis survived easily as compared to Dott. Dominating the baize from the beginning, Davis put
Dott under pressure as he failed to get out of it later and slipped down by the score line of 5-0.
In his post match interview with World Snooker media, Davis said, “It's obviously my first semi-final, it's taken me a little while, only 21 years! But it's nice to be in there and I look forward to tomorrow now. It's never easy against Graeme, even at 4-0
up I knew there was a long way to go because he never gives in.”
He added, “He's one of the toughest players around. I feel good. I was getting lots of 30-40 breaks and then missing a silly one or losing position, I'm delighted to win, but I need to turn those breaks into 60-70 and try and visit in one visit.”
Davis will be up against the winner of the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open, England’s Stuart Bingham in the semi-final encounter at the same venue. Both potters have shown a great deal of determination in the recent event and will surely produce a superb
semi-final competition. It will be exciting to watch Davis battle it out against Bingham in the semi-finals.
