Mark Davis looking forward to tough game against Martin Gould: 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
After a tremendous snooker display at the Bendigo Stadium arena, the winner of the 2012 Six-Red World Championship, Mark Davis was able to beat the local favourite, the former World Snooker Championship winner Neil Robertson by the score line of 5-1 in the
second round encounter of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker event.
With this victory over Robertson, Davis made his way into the quarter-final stage where he will meet compatriot Martin Gould. The quarter-final clash is going to be an interesting game as both potters have come so far after performing impressively in the
initial stages of the tournament to make it into the quarters. Davis is looking forward to making a good game against Gould.
In his post match interview with World Snooker, Davis said, “I scored really well, my safety was ok, and when I did play a bad safety I got away with it and didn't leave him anything which is a bit of the roll of the ball that you need. Martin Gould's a
really great player. He's played well the last few years, got himself in the top 16 so it'll be another tough game, I'll have to play well.”
He further commented that he started a bit slow in the second round game and did not get his hand on the in the first two frames of the match. However, for him, the turning point was when Robertson started tumbling down during the proceedings, which was
unfortunate for him.
The initial round of the match finished in Robertson’s favour when he claimed the frame after firing a tremendous snooker break of 88 to cruise into the 0-1 lead. After that, Davis came back brilliantly in the next three frames and finished the first session
of the match by the score line of 3-1. Robertson was trying to come back in the second session but Davis did not let him trouble during the game.
The Englishman played sensibly in the next two frames and breezed into the match victory by the score line of 5-1. The venue of the Bendigo Stadium was full of snooker lovers who were present to see their favourite potter, Robertson in action. However, their
hopes ended when the Aussie cueman collapsed.
