Mark Davis on his toes to face Stuart Bingham in semis of 2012 Wuxi Classic – Snooker Update
Proceedings of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament at the Wuxi Sports Center arena in Wuxi, China have entered the final stages. The top four cuemen have reached the penultimate stage of the event where they will face each other to formulate the line-up
for the ultimate competition.
England’s Mark Davis has booked Stuart Bingham semi-final clash after he defeated the former World Snooker Championship winner, Scotland’s Graeme Dott in the quarter-final session.
Davis spoke to World Snooker after his quarter-final encounter, “I was pleased to clear up there when I got a chance at the end. You want to finish the match as quickly as you can especially someone like Graeme, you can't let someone like that back into
a game.”
He added about Bingham, “He's won the first two tournaments, the Pink Ribbon and the first PTC over here, and he's still going in this one.”
The Davis-Dott quarter-final encounter was completely dominated and snatched by the Englishman as he displayed scintillating snooker skills from the very beginning of the match. Dott had no idea how to tackle his opponent’s run who swept the table in no
time during all five frames and claimed victory by the score line of 5-0. Davis was quite ecstatic after nudging Dott 5-0 down because he did not expect such a great performance in the semis even where the amount of pressure is always increasing.
Davis has now set up his semi-final clash against the winner of the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament winner, England’s Stuart Bingham. Just like him, Bingham has also shown noticeable performance in the recent Wuxi Classic tournament. The
Englishman grabbed his confidence of participating in the tournament from the victory he grabbed in Pink Ribbon Pro-am Snooker Championship.
The snooker lovers of China will be watching a real thrilling game during the semi-final competitions because both Davis and Bingham are all set to launch fireworks at the Wuxi Sports Center. It will be exciting to watch the Davis-Bingham clash as both players
are in good form. The fans will be looking forward to this tremendous match-up as the tournament has produced some great games so far.
