Mark Eaton?

Ok so everyone is cryin and whining cuz the pens kept eaton, look at the facts, YES HE GETS HURT A LOT! im not saying that, but he is our best shot blocker by far and signed for much cheaper then he's really worth because of his injuries, he's a great 2nd pairing guy if he's healthy and we got him cheap which is most important, so stop whining.

Yea, they got him cheap, but that still doesn't ease that fact that he's injury prone. Orpik by far has a lot more to offer. Eaton is way to slow. He is best used at 5 on 5, no pp or pk. At least the only smart thing they've done so far is sign Dupuis.

Part of WHY he is hurt so much is because he is doing his job. He keeps blocking shots and you know that is going to wear down the body some. Not going to say that he should get hurt as often as he should,. just saying his style of play is part of it. I wouldn't really say we got him cheap either, yeah it was a bargain price, but the low tag was to make up for the injury issue. Think about it, we gave him a free season with as many games as he missed between the last two seasons. So what we payed him for the last TWO seasons was for ONE season of work. Well now you pay him knowing he is likely to miss those games. If anything I thank him for accepting that the injuries is going to lower his price. At least he isn't getting greedy about it.

People tend to overlook the fact that before Orpik's incredible 2nd half (by his standards) and the playoffs, Eaton was the Penguins ONLY good defensive defenseman, Gonchar's is decent for an offensive defenceman, but I wouldn't put him up as a good at defense based on a few great plays, that'd be like saying Jeter is a great defensive shortstop, (which if you look at objective statistics, he isn't).  Seriously, Eaton when healthy is one of the most responsible and gutsiest in the league.  Anyone who overlooks Eaton's talent and contributions when healthy is obviously not paying attention to the games he played.
