Question:

Mark Geyer: inferiority complex or just an idiot?

The former Penrith and international prop is constantly bagging the beautiful game of AFL and then came out over the weekend and said that Barry Hall should not have been stood down by the Swans for his punch on Wakelin. Is this guy seriously afraid of AFL taking over or is he just a complete fool?

  1. he speaks the truth dats more then wat i can say for all u gutless wonders in here

  2. I find it hard why he would have an inferiority complex seeing as he was a professional footballer, a public identity and a media pundit on multi-billion dollar TV station unlike yourself, who is making comments about him on an internet forum lol.

It doesn't matter how much auskick programs AFL sets up, this isn't a 1 or 2 sport state like Victoria where there's only AFL and football(soccer). NSW is already overpopulated with too many sports, even if the swans are winning, its only a circus, people are only interested in it if they win, but they wont go out to a game and watch them. If there's any sport that even has the slightest chance of ever taking over rugby league in NSW and QLD it would be football(soccer) and that's coming from an NRL fan but i dont see that likely to happen anyway. AFL supporters are transfixed on some sort of myth that gate numbers to games are the only commodity to go by, but they look beyond the fact that they have ZERO international recognition and they still fail to have a significant impact on the 2 largest and fastest growing states in Australia. NRL has a good relationship with both the FFA and ARU and it's only a matter of time before we sort some sort of agreement to tackle the AFL and you will see the end your silly sport.

  3. Mr Geyer was never really renowned for his intelligence.  He spent most of his career on suspension and/or drugs.

Then he was with Melbourne Storm charged with making the game popular in no-man's-land for leagueys.  Of course he's gonna come out with that c**p ... remember - he's aiming at the bottom 5% in intelligence - i.e. potential league fans!

Ah yes - good point Dropkick.  Shouldn't have an opinion when drunk.  I always thought that, ... particularly when commenting on someone having an opinion when drunk :-S

  4. Like Mr lily white of NRL  would know how many teams has he played for and it looks like now he is chasing the almighty dollar and going overseas to play and good riddance.

So what he says is worth nothing to any real AFL fan.

  5. Well if there are only the two options you give, then he is obviously a complete fool because AFL will never take over, N.S.W isn't a one sport state, not everyone here follows a footy team. AFL only attracts interest when the Swans are winning. Aside from that in N.S.W we follow soccer, union, league, cricket, hockey, basketball, just to name a few, so what will AFL take over? It's not all Rugby league in N.S.W

  6. Well said Greg Inglis.OMG, did I really say that? To answer your Q, the man is entitled to his opinion.

  7. Quandry

You have the Geyer brothers mixed up.  Mark was the drug bust and suspended player and Matt plays for the Melbourne Storm.

I saw the Barry Hall/Wakelin incident.  Wakelin should represent Australia in the Olympics for diving.  What a wimp.  Barry Hall hardly touched him.

    Punch!  What punch?

  8. MARK GEYER: "Look I think it's concerning. Any time a rival code decides their going to plonk themselves in the heartland of your sport, you've got to worry. "

He's protecting the game he loves.. Auskick has been slowly targeting schools through Sydney and he sees this as a threat like termites..

He has to face it ..  Aussie rules is an Australian past time and NSW and QLD are a part of Australia so naturally Rugby cant be dominant forever..

He's living in the dark ages..

Edit: Yes AND hes allowed his opinion and allowed to fight for his beloved Rugby, as we would if ever Aussie rules needed to be fought for..

  9. He always shoots his mouth off, most of the footy show (NRL) do as well,  they must be jealous or something, our afl footy show never mention the rugby league, sterlo used to always be bagging aussie rules, what is wrong with them?

Who cares what sport you follow,  Sydney siders are always doing the same c**p about Melbourne too, ridiculous childish behaviour, just on the nrl footy show, last weeks was the worst i have ever seen, in all the years i have watched it, stupid Mario fenech is a dead set blonk. how they put him on TV is beyond me, he can't read, put a sentence together, just a jibberer, all he is on for to hang c**p on.
