Mark Gillan of Williams believes Korean GP was their most disappointing race – Formula 1 news
Chief operations engineer of Williams, Mark Gillan, believes that the Korean Grand Prix was their most disappointing race of the season because they were not able to attain a single point despite having a clean race and a good start.
The chief operations engineer is disappointed over the performance of their drivers as they could only manage finishing at the 14th and 15th position thus attaining no point from the event because only top ten drivers of the race are awarded points according
to the rules of Formula 1.
Gillan said, “This has probably been our most disappointing race of the season in that both cars had decent race starts and had no contact issues during the race but we were clearly too far off the pace to challenge for points.”
Furthermore, he said that they know that they are struggling with balance issues of the car and they need to work on it. He added that it is about the balance of the car which make drivers suffer over the track.
He added, “We do understand why we struggled this weekend and need to address the balance consistency problem that hampered the drivers' performance.”
The chief engineer believes that they did not face any problem due to one stop strategy of Pastor Maldonado while other drivers went for two pit stops because the veteran driver is great at managing the tyres of his car.
In addition, he told that they will keep improving their car in the current season until the season ends. He added that they will also consider resolving the balancing issues of their car for the next and the season after the next season, to become further
competitive over the circuit.
Williams currently holds 8th position in the Constructors’ championship with 58 points. They have been unable to attain any point in seven races in the current season and have attained two digit figures twice only. They have attained only 5 points after
the mid break of the season.
Let’s see how the Williams team performs in the remainder of the current season because they are 31 points behind Force India team which currently holds 7th position in the Constructors’ Championship.
