Mark Gillan says performance of both drivers was pleasing at Hungaroring Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mark Gillan, chief operations engineer of team Williams F1, believes that performance of both cars was impressive over the last weekend in Hungary.
He said that both cars were competitive over the last weekend and it was amusing to see them competing in the third qualifying round. He added that the team will continue the development of the cars throughout the season.
Furthermore, he said that their aim would be to get the drivers consistently in qualifiers so that drivers may finish with regular points.
Mark Gillan told official website of Formula 1, “Both cars were competitive throughout the weekend in all conditions and it was very pleasing to have the two drivers competing in Q3 for the first time this season. We will continue to push the development
of the FW34 throughout the season, aiming to consistently get the cars into Q3 and then to build on this with regular points finishes for both drivers.”
In addition, he said that the considerable amount of difference in speeds between Bruno Senna and Pastor Maldonado could be due to several reasons. He added that there was no single reason which could be pointed out.
He said, “As with most things it is never one single reason, but more a collection of differences between the two cars that lead to the speed delta.”
Commenting on the performance of Senna, Gillan said he gave a wonderful performance with his drive. He added that Senna looked confident with his run and they are looking forward towards an improved performance in the latter half of the season.
Furthermore, he said that Maldonado was strong in qualifying round although he had a poor start which was due to excessive wheel spin. Moreover, he said that he is trying to improve his performance in the remaining races of the season.
Gillan says that that the team is working on improving the pit stops time as well.
He added that he has positive expectations with his team and that they will perform well in the upcoming grands prix.
