Mark Harrison of Gurnard Sailing Club takes RS100 Inland Championships title at Rutland Sailing Club
Gurnard Sailing Club’s Mark Harrison was able to hit the top podium at the 2011 RS100 Inland Championships in Rutland Sailing Club, after a superb run with 10 points. Harrison sailed up to the mark winning a couple of races to lead the 15-boat fleet. Harrison
clinched top place after six races including one discard.
The race weekend on Rutland waters was predicted to be shifty and gusty which added more thrill to the event. However, on the final day of the event, Gurnard Sailing Club’s Harrison was impressive on waters as he took one race win followed by a second podium
in the last race and with one discard in the end, he topped the standings with 10 points.
Hayling Island Sailing Club’s Simon Childs with sail number 191 finished on second place with 14 points. On third position was Clive Eplett from Frensham Pond Sailing Club with 20 points after six races.
Overall standings at the end of RS100 Inland Championships:

Wind conditions, as predicted, were strong on Rutland waters as the shifty breeze wafted around the racing area from 12 to 16 knots along with heavy gusts. The gusts were stronger near the shore which made it difficult to sail but the participants managed
to complete the scheduled races on time.
